Portfolio

I’m French-born and lived fifteen years in Asia—Bangkok and Afghanistan—where I photographed for publications (NYT, Reuters, commercial assignments) while deepening my practice in the darkroom and alternative processes. I revived the Afghan box camera in 2006 and ran a studio with it. Now based in the USA (DMV), I run a tintype studio, teach, and study at MICA (Maryland Institute College of Art) in Baltimore. The work below gathers 35 mm, tintypes, and Afghan camera plates.

2025 post‑tariff pricing: 5×7 $80; 8×10 $160; shipping +$10.

Deposit

Please deposit $30 to lock in your session; it counts toward your final price; non‑refundable within 48 hours. I’ll send a Venmo link by email after I confirm your slot.

What should I wear?

Light tones; simple cuts; no logos. Jewelry works well. Shiny fabrics can bloom; matte textures behave.

Pets; kids; groups

Yes. Movement makes focus harder; we adjust lighting and exposure accordingly. For groups with pets; plan an extra plate.

On‑site sessions

Available with a travel fee from Takoma Park; I bring the darkroom.

Turnaround

Plates and scans are typically ready within one week; USPS shipping available.

About

Landry Dunand

I grew up in France; worked for years in Thailand and elsewhere; and spent two decades as a graphic designer. I run a tintype studio in Takoma Park; I teach analog processes; and I like work that shows the hand.

Portrait of Landry in studio

The studio is a working darkroom; chemistry lives next to the camera. Teaching and photographing are related; both ask for attention; patience; and a sense of humor.
